Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us
Nehemiah 4:20
Nehemiah saw that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and needed rebuilding. He had a passion and a burden to build. As this burden was upon him, he firstly sought God and God directed Him. I believe that God is clearly speaking to His people at Highway, and as we seek Him, He will direct us. God is calling us together to unite to build His house under His leadership through the leadership of our pastors. Right at this time the spirit of God is really speaking loudly! Let those who have ears to hear, hear what the spirit of God is saying to the church.
God is awakening us to His voice. He is saying “Awaken and hear the trumpet call. I want you to work with me to build something amazing, something that I have planned since the beginning of time. Turn to me, open your ears to me and I will fight for you as you move in the passions and burdens that I am giving you. A breakthrough is on the horizon!”
The house of Highway has a destiny…an amazing destiny. Each and every one of His believers within the house has a destiny that was cemented in us before we were born. God created us to be different, unique, particularly gifted in a way that He wants us to be. He gave us our own personalities and mannerisms, our passions. We hear God in different ways and respond to Him in different ways. But beneath it all he has given us the same spirit and it’s in His spirit that he is uniting us as a body of believers at Highway.
As we spend time with God, we become more and more aware of Him and connect more and more with His spirit within us. We begin to accept ourselves as he made us, unique! We His people are not just a row of clowns in side show alley all looking the same, all turning our heads in unison and stuck solid inside the mould and expecting to be filled. We are a passionate body of believers who are each different and alive and God is desiring for us to seek after Him, to hear His voice, to be alive in who he made us to be. We are individuals but united!
As this connection with God gets stronger we begin to really hear the spirit of God speaking in others. When our pastors share the word, we hear what God is saying through them. There is a trumpet sounding in our church at the moment. God is saying come together and build! God is saying seek me, unite with me, I will unite you in spirit and each time the trumpet sounds you will hear it! Wow a whole body of believers turning their head towards God, trusting the spirit of God to speak and then following. When we do that, God will fight the fight for us and breakthrough comes!!! How can it not come when God is at the front of the charge!!
I pray that as we step into this week together that each and every one of us will have ears to hear the spirit of God. Ask God to have a passion and burden to build as Nehemiah did!! Ask Him to link you with what the spirit of God is saying to Highway. God is building something amazing at Highway ….did you hear that… God is building something amazing at Highway! I want to be a part of it. I want to be who God created me to be, to step into all that he has for me and as I step into my destiny I want to be united with others as they step into theirs. Then we step into our destiny as Highway Christian Church! God lead the way and we’ll follow!

There are different kinds of gifts, service and of workings, but the same God works all of them in all men
1 Corinthians 12:5-6
With Mother’s Day here – it can be a time where we remember and focus on a mothers’ unconditional love. A mother loves each of her children unconditionally despite the fact that each one is different, each one has different gifts, different ways and each will follow a different path. Yet she loves each one for who they are – a part of her. This is a picture of God’s love for His people, His body and His church. Each of us is unique, different and yet each special, each chosen and created to be a part of His glorious body. Yet too often we can lose sight of this – whether it’s through comparing ourselves and our gifts to others, whether it is through envy or jealousy, we forget the dreams, the desires, the gifts and talents we have. I believe God wants to set each of us free from this. He wants to release us and remind us of all that He made us to be using all that He has so freely given us. Imagine being free to be yourself. imagine how alive you would feel. Imagine the passion you would feel, if you did what He made you to do.
You know what? this is my dream for my children, of them living passionate lives – lives filled with purpose with meaning – where they are released to be themselves. Will they sometimes find themselves doing something else – yes – that’s what we do in a body, cover for another part – but only temporarily – you see each part has a function and without that part the body cannot function in its fullness – we can compensate for a part that is unwell/needs rest, but for our body to work at its best – each part needs to function as it is meant to. That is also God’s dream and plan for us, for His body.
Yet too often we allow our dreams to flicker and wane – we forget our desires and belittle our gifts and talents. Why?– often, in truth, because we take our eyes off Him and put them on ourselves or on others. We need to spend time with Him, seeking Him and getting to know Him. Our Pastors have felt this is a time for breakthrough. True breakthrough occurs when we see things from His perspective when we look at ourselves and His world through His eyes and walk in His truths. When we do, we will be set free, released to be ourselves – who we are created to be and to know and to use all that He has placed within us.
So as we sit down with Him this week – let us get to know Him and in so doing we will find ourselves and the freedom to walk as one of His chosen and beloved people and be a part of His glorious body – His church.
